James J. Koziarz, Ph.D.

Managing Partner — 25 Yrs Senior Management Abbott Labs, 3 Yrs Startups

During his distinguished 25-year career at Abbott Laboratories, Jim held numerous high-level R&D and management positions, including Corporate Vice President for Diagnostic Products Research and Development. Since 2004, he has been an active member of the entrepreneurial and venture communities, serving as interim management and close advisor to several early-stage, venture-backed life sciences companies in the Midwest and Boston.

He is currently an advisor to ARCH Development Partners and a director of Verax BioMedical, Rubicon Genomics, InformMed and NephRx Corporation. He is also a member of DePaul University's College of Liberal Arts Advisory Board. He is a past recipient of the FDA Commissioner's Citation for his work on the FDA's SARS task force. Prior to joining Abbott in 1979, Jim was a postdoctoral fellow in biochemistry at the University of Chicago. He earned a B.S. in chemistry from DePaul University, a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Chicago, and won a National Research Service Award as a post- doctoral fellow.
